2nd DG Advisory Committee Meeting

Region One's 2nd combined District Governor's Advisory Committee Meeting for Zone 1 to Zone 5 clubs was held at the Royal Hotel, Larut Road, Penang. Our club was represented by President Alan Cheah, 2nd Vice President Tina Tan and PP Teng Eng Teik at this meeting. Unfortunately Club Secretary Martin Chong and Club Treasurer PP Quah Bah Aik could not attend as they were indisposed with Lion Martin being out of the state and PP Quah having a very bad cough.

HAPPY DEEPAVALI

Our Club together with our Omega Leos will be organising an Educational/Environmental Inter school competition for primary schools in Penang Island on 31 October 2009 at Prangin Mall, Penang. The "Think Green, Be Green" project sanctioned by the Jabatan Pelajaran Negeri Pulau Pinang will commence at 9.30 p.m. and is scheduled to close at 3.30 p.m.Schools will be invited to send six students to participate in an Environmental Quiz contest and an environmental craft making contest. The project is aimed at testing the knowledge of the children with regards our environment and its protection. Organising Chairperson for the project is Leo Wah Si Sheng with our club's Leo Adviser PP May Cheah as adviser.

Charity Countdown 2009

Our Club's year end project ... the Charity Countdown 2009 will be held at the Eastin Ballroom, Eastin Hotel, Penang from 9.00 p.m. 31 December 2009 to 2.00 a.m. 01 January 2010. Let us get together to usher in the new year "2010" and at the same time raise funds for our club's "Poor Family Fund", "Education Fund" and "Medical Fund".
Tickets are priced at a mere RM80.00 per person inclusive of a sumptous Dinner/Supper, free flow of beer and fantastic entertainment for the evening.
There will be a raffle draw featuring a 32" TOSHIBA LCD Television (priced at RM1,500.00) donated by Organising Chairperson PP R. Ganeson and many other interesting items.

Celebrating the birthdays of October Lions

Members of the Club celebrated the birthdays of October Lions after the conclusion of the 4th Business Meeting at the Kompleks Masyarakat Penyayang. Lions who celebrated their birthdays in the month of October were PP Leong Weng Khuan (1st); President Alan Cheah (9th); PP Ann Khor (19th) and PP R. Ganeson (19th)..."Many happy returns" to these Lions.

Visit to adopted Poor Family

Sunday, 11 October 2009...

Club members visited our club's adopted poor family to hand over basic necessities to Mr. Ravindran to enable him and his family to prepare for Deepavali on the 17th. Members passed the hat around and raised RM400.00 to assist the family prepare for the festival of lights. President Alan presented "ang pows" to Mr. Ravindran's three children. Present at the visit were President Alan & Lady Esther, PP Ganeson & Family, CP Danny Lim, Lion Tina Tan and OC PP Quah Bah Aik.

LC Georgetown City's 14th Anniversary

Saturday, 10th october 2009 ...

Our members attended the 14th Charter Anniversary of the Lions Club of Georgetown City held at the Cititel Hotel, Penang. Present at the dinner was District Governor Choong Kwei Loi who conducted the induction ceremony of 4 new Lions. Club members who attended the dinner were President Alan Cheah, Past District Governor Dato' Khoo Kay Huat, Past President May Cheah, Past President ooi Bi Bi and Lion Tina Tan.

4th B.O.D Meeting

Thursday, 08 October 2009 ...

The 4th meeting of the Board of Directors was held last night at the Club house @ Kompleks Masyarakat Penyayang, Jalan Utama, Penang. The Board unanimously approved the proposals of the Organising Committee for the Charity Countdown Party to be held on 31 December 2009 at the Eastin Hotel, Queensbay, Penang and the Chinese New Year Celebrations with Elders and Children in February 2010.

The Board also extends felicitations and birthday greetings to Lions who celebrate their birthdays this month - PP Leong Weng Khuan (01st); President Alan (09th); PP Ann Khor and PP R. Ganeson (19th)..."Many Happy Returns of the day to them".

The President, Board of Directors and members extend "Happy Deepavali" greetings to PP R. Ganeson, PP R. Sethupandian and Lion Jaysal Bhatt...may the "Festival of Lights" shine brightly for them bringing them success and happiness in all their endeavors.
