George Town Mutiara's Cabinet Officers FY 2010-2011

In conjunction with the Inauguration of District Governor Hudson Hah, District 308 B2's cabinet officers were duly recognised and installed by District Governor Hudson. The cabinet officers were then presented their letters of appointment by H.R.H. the Raja Di Hilir of Perak Darul Ridzuan, Raja Jaafar ibni Raja Muda Musa on 17 July 2010 at the Ballroom of the Syuen Hotel in Ipoh, Perak.

Mutiara lions appointed to the District Cabinet for FY 2010-2011 were:
IPP Alan Cheah as Zone 1 Chairperson + Alert Team/Local Council; PP R. Ganeson as District Chairperson (Awards); and Past President May Cheah as District Chairperson (Women's Membership Development and Lioness).

The Club congratulates these Lions on their appointment to the District Cabinet for FY 2010-2011.

PP Emery Cheah was appointed to assist the District Cabinet Secretary in the District Secretariat.

The District Cabinet held its inaugural meeting on 18 July 2010 at the Syuen Hotel, Ipoh. All Cabinet Officers from the Club attended this meeting.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PP JOE QUAH

Mutiara Lions joined in the 70th birthday celebrations of one of her Charter Members - Past President Joe Quah Bah Aik at the Vistana Hotel, Penang on Saturday, 24 July 2010.

INSTALLATION OF CLUB PRESIDENT & BOD 2010-2011

Region 1 Lions witnessed the installation of thirteen Clubs Presidents and  their Boards of Directors at a glittering ceremony graced by Tuan Yang Terutama, Yang di-Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang Tun Dato' Seri Utama (Dr.) Haji Abdul Rahman B. Haji Abbas and his consort Toh Puan Dato' Seri Utama Hajah Majimor Bt. Shariff, the Hon'ble Tuan Phee Boon Poh representing the Rt. Hon'ble Chief Minister of Penang and numerous lions dignitaries at the G-Hotel, Penang on 20 July 2010.
Before the start of the event, the Lions celebrated the 72nd Birthday of TYT Tuan with a splendid cake and dedicating a birthday song to him.District Governor Hudson Hah was the installing officer that evening whilst TYT Yang di-Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang garlanded the newly installed Clubs Presidents with their chain of office.

The event was witnessed by three hundred lions and friends from Clubs as far south as Kuala Lumpur (LC Subang Jaya) and included lions luminares in the persona of Past International Director Hajjah Ellis Suriyati (LC Kuching Ixora, Kuching, Sarawak); Past Council Chairpersons Allan Cheah, Patrick Chew, Hong Khay Chai and Jeffrey Quah besides Past District Governors Khoo Koon Wah and Philip Ooi In Hee. Also present were 1st Vice District Governor Shawn Lee and 2nd Vice District Governor Tan Swee Kok and numerous cabinet officers.
Our Club's President Tina Tan led the Club's Board of Directors in this elaborately planned and well executed event.
The newly installed Presidents and Boards of Directors then took a group photograph with the VIPs of the evening after the installation ceremony.

WELCOMING DISTRICT GOVERNOR...

Mutiara Lions joined other Lions from Region 1 to welcome District Governor Hudson Hah and Lady Nelly home from the recent LCI's International Conventiuon in Sydney on 03 July 2010 where DG Hudson was installed as District Governor by International President Sid L. Scruggs III.
President Tina led the Club's lions to the Penang International Airport to receive the District Governor and thereafter to high tea at the Shangai Ding Tim Sum Restaurant Bayan Bay. Lions who were at the airport were IPP  (ZC) Alan Cheah; PP Emery Cheah; PP (DC) R. Ganeson and Lion Gertrude Soong.

AUDIO VISUAL LANGUAGE LABORATORY AT SJK(C) KONG MIN CAW. 2 OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED

The Lions Club of George Town Mutiara successfully launched its 22nd Charter Anniversary Education Project - the setting up of a  Audio Visual Language Laboratory - on 28 June 2010 at the SJK(C) Kong Min Caw. 2 in Paya Terubong.
The Language Laboratory was officially launched by President Alan Cheah witnessed by the Chairman of the school's Board of Directors, Chairman of the school's Parent-Teacher Association, Headmaster and teachers of the school, Lions, parents and pupils of the school.
The Audio Visual Language Laboratory - the first of its kind for a Primary School in Penang - will benefit the 1200 pupils of the school in enhancing their language learning skills.
The laboratory combines audio visual and interactive teaching aids to enhance the mastery of languages for the pupils of the school.

WELL DONE GEORGE TOWN MUTIARA!

The Lions Club of George Town Mutiara added another feather to its cap when it's monthly Club Bulletin won  "Honourable Mention" in LCI's International Bulletin Contest for FY 2010-2011.
The results were announced recently at the on-going LCI International Convention in Sydney. LCI offers only five prizes for this contest and our entry was successful in winning one of them.
