REGION 1 Peace Poster Contest, 2010

The Club joined fifteen other Region 1clubs  to jointly organise and participate in Region 1's Peace Poster Contest themed "Vision of Peace". The contest was held at the scenic New World Park, Jalan Burma, Penang on Sunday 29 August 2010.

Mutiara Lions who turned up to support the project and witness our local budding talents draw and paint to their hearts content on a bright, cheery and sunny Sunday morning were PDG Dato' Khoo Kay Huat, ZC Alan Cheah, DC/1VP May Cheah, DC R. Ganeson, 2VP Lion Monica Sio, 3VP Lion Gertrude Soong and Project OC Charter President Danny Lim and Lady MY.

Mutiara Lions at the Stall

Mutiara Lions participated in ntv7's Yuan Carnival to help raise funds for the Parent-Teachers Association of SJK(C) Shang Wu in Penang on Saturday 28 August 2010 at the school grounds in Jalan Sekolah La Salle, Air Itam, Penang.

The Club set up a stall selling satay, dragon ball biscuits and organic Soap in support of the school. Organising Chairperson of the project, 2nd VP Monica Sio and other members of the Club including PCC Allan Cheah, PDG Dato' Khoo Kay Huat, ZC Alan Cheah, DC May Cheah, 3rd VP Gertrude Soong and PP R. Ganeson and his family helped out at the stall.

Headmaster of the school, Lion Koay Poy Teik a member of the Club was very appreciative of the Club's support at this event which managed to raise RM100,000.00 for the coffers of the school's PTA and thanked his fellow Lions for their efforts in support of the school.

The Club managed to contribute RM1,000.00 from its stall thanks to the selling and persuasive marketing skills of the Lions present on that day.

Mutiara Lions attended the 14th Installation of their sister club, the Lions Club of Kota Budaya (District 308 B1) in Kota Bharu, Kelantan recently. President Tina Tan, Charter President Danny Lim and Lady MY together with 3rd VP Lion Gertrude Soong journeyed by car from Penang to attend the function on 07 August 2010 held at the Renaissance Hotel in Kota Bharu.

Memento to PID Ellis by President Tina

Mutiara Lions participated in an appreciation dinner in honour of Past International Director Hajjah Ellis Suriyati organised by the Lions Club of George Town on 01 August 2010 at the Cititel Hotel, Penang. Together with some 150 lions and lionesses, our members paid tribute to PID Ellis who had during her two year tenure as International Director from 2008-2010 actively support our Club's activities. PID Ellis graced our Club's Chinese New Year Gathering with the Elders, Orphans and Handicapped in February 2010 as Guest of Honour and made a generous cash contribution towards the project besides distributing soft toys to the children invitees. She also graced our Club's 22nd Charter Anniversary on 15 May 2010 whereat she contributed generously to the Lions GTM-Pantai Penang Medical Fund.
