Lions GTM-Pantai Penang Medical Fund

The Lions GTM-Pantai Penang Medical Fund committee held a press conference at the Pantai Hospital Penang to publicise and announce the official launching of the fund by H.E. The Yang Di-Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang on 02 November 2010 at the Hospital grounds.
Several programmes will be held concurrently with the launch. There will be free health screening activities by the hospital and several health stalls will be in place too. There will also be a "mock cheque" presentation by major donors to be witnessed by H.E. The Yang Di-Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang. The launching will be witnessed by District Governor Hudson Hah as well as the Chairman of Pantai Holdings Bhd.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY"
Mutiara Lions celebrated the birthdays of IPP Alan Cheah (09 Oct) and PP R. Ganeson (19 Oct) at the conclusion of the Club's monthly meeting on 11 October 2010 at the Kompleks Masyarakat Penyayang, Penang. Mutiara Lions who celebrate their birthdays in the month of October also include PP Ann Khor (19 Oct) and PP Leong Weng Khuan (01 Oct).

Official visit by District Governor...

District Governor Hudson Hah made his official visit to the club on 19 October 2010. Mutiara Lions led by President Tina Tan met DG Hudson at the Shanghai Dimsum house at Queensbay, Penang. Present at the visit were 1st VP (DC) May Cheah, 3rd VP Gertrude Soong, Past Council Chairperson Allan Cheah and Past District Governor Dato' Khoo Kay Huat (Club Advisor).
Accompanying DG Hudson during the visit was Region 1 Chairperson Ong Hong Sing.

Monthly visit to adopted poor family...

Mutiara Lions led by President Tina Tan and project organising Chairperson PP Joe Quah paid their monthly visit to the family of Mr. Ravindran at the Weld Quay foreshore area to deliver much needed daily necessities to the family on 17 October 2010.
The family has been adopted by the Club for the past 4 years and members have been paying monthly visits to the family bringing much needed necessities for the family of five. Mr. Ravindran, jobless following a fall which disabled him and also caused him to lose his job has three school going children to support.

For this visit to the family, Lions also bring early Deepavali Cheer to the family as the Club and members have also contributed cash to enable the family to celebrate the upcoming "Festival of Lights". The Club also sponsors the school going children with annual free school uniforms.

Lions GTM-Pantai Penang Medical Fund

On 15 May 2010, the Lions Club of George Town Mutiara signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Pantai Hospital, Penang to set up a joint medical fund to help needy patients who required expensive surgical procedures in the Hospital. The MoU was signed during the Club's 22nd Charter Anniversary Banquet and was witnessed by the then International Director Hajjah Ellis Suriyati and then District Governor Choong Kwei Loi at the Eastin Hotel, Penang.
Now, some five months after the historical signing of the MoU, the Lions GTM-Pantai Penang Medical Fund will be officially launched on 02 November 2010 by Tuan Yang Terutama, Tun Dato' Seri Utama (Dr) Haji Abdul Rahman B. Haji Abas, the Yang Di-Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang at the Pantai Hospital, Penang. The official launch of the medical fund will be witnessed by District Governor Hudson Hah at 9.00 a.m.
In conjunction with the launching of the fund, the hospital will be providing several free health screening activities  including a blood donation campaign. There will be a mock cheque presentation from major donors to the fund. All donations in excess of RM1,000.00 are tax exempt. All Lions are invited to witness the launch of the medical fund whereat lunch will be served after the launching ceremony.
