Annual School Uniforms presentation...

As the school year comes to a close, Mutiara Lions again carried out their annual project of providing free school uniforms to deserving school children to prepare them for the new school year in 2012.

Project Organising Chairperson, Charter President Danny Lim again rose to the occasion when the project was successfull carried out at the SJKC Kong Min Cawangan II, Penang on 31 October 2011.

Forty one students from the SJKC Kong Min Caw. II, SJKC Shang Wu, SJKT Rajaji and SMK St. Xaviers were presented with free school uniforms which comprised a shirt/blouse, a pair of trousers/pinafore, a pair od socks and a pair of shoes.

The presentation, carried out at the SJKC Kong Min Caw. II school hall in Paya Terubong, Penang was witnessed by the Headmaster of SJKC Kong Min Caw, II and Senior Assistants from the SJKC Shang Wu and SJKT Rajaji together with President Mark Labrooy, Past Council Chairperson Allan Cheah, Club Secretary, Zone Chairperson May Cheah, Past President Joe Quah,  Past President Alan Cheah, Lion Gertrude Soong, Lion Ed Kiew and Lion Peter Hoffmann.

Lions from LC George Town Mutiara rose to the occasion when they passed the hat round and contributed 250 cartons of drinking water to the Humanitarian Mission for Thailand, 2011. 

The Humanitarian Mission for Thailand, 2011 is being undertaken and entrusted to the St. Johns Ambulance, State of Penang (SJAMPP) by the Government to help our beleagured northern neighbours in their time of need. As per the latest newspaper reports, the flood situation in Bangkok has not improved and the death toll has passed the five hundred mark.

"The Lions Club of George Town Mutiara is the first Lions club to have responded to the mission with this contribution", said Mr. HS Koay, SJAMPP's State Staff Officer for Disaster Management during the official handing over ceremony on 06 November 2011.
