Mutiara Nite...

The Club will be celebrating her 24th Charter Anniversary with a banquet on 19 May 2012 at the Grand Ballroom, Eastin Hotel, Penang.

Organising Chairperson Lion Ed Kiew said that the organising committee had decided that the evening will be named "Mutiara Nite" and the theme of the evening is "Pearls".

Nomination of Club Officers FY 2012-2013

The time has come again for Lions to choose their leaders for the coming fiscal year 2012-2013. Mutiara Lions held their nomination meeting on 09 February 2012 to choose their club leaders for the next fiscal year.
With the exception of President Mark Labrooy who automatically becomes the Immediate Past President (IPP), all other positions in the Board of Directors were nominated by the club members.
The nomination process saw current 3rd Vice President Lion Ed Kiew being nominated as the next Club President with Lion Monica Sio as Secretary and Past President Ann Khor as Club Treasurer.

Heartiest Congratulations to the nominees with the hope that upon their election in March, they will continue to steer and lead the club to greater heights.

Annual adoption of Cheshire Home inmate...

The Club have again adopted an inmate from the Cheshire Home, Penang for a year. This adoption programme by the club has been on going for many years

This year, the club's adoptee is Ms. Ivy Gan, a 50 year handicraft maker of the home who suffers from cerebral palsy.

Club President Mark Labrooy led the Mutiara Lions during the home's Foster Parent day to get to know Ivy.

SIGHTFIRST Project ... FREE Cataract Operations for the needy.

The Lions Club of George Town Mutiara in collaboration with the Lions GTM-Pantai Penang Medical Fund, CIMB Foundation and Pantai Hospital, Penang will provide FREE cataract surgery for the needy of the community. The cataract surgery will be performed at Pantai Hospital Penang.

The Club invites applications from the public to avail themselves of this free service. Application forms can be obtained from Pantai Hospital, Penang (82, Jalan Tengah, Bayan Baru, 11900 Penang).
