Our Club's POA's (Past Officers of the Association) namely Past Council Chairman Allan Cheah and Past District Governor Dato' Khoo Kay Huat attended the Joint Installation of the Lions Club of Georgetown Perdana and the Lions Club of Penang Island New Century held at the Tanjung Bungah Beach Hotel, Penang.

1st Club Social cum Orientation

Sunday, 16 August 2009 @ Vistana Hotel, Penang

1st Club Social cum Orientation for fiscal year 2009-2010 was organised by 1st Vice President/Membership Director, Lion Danny Ooi. The event was a Hi-Tea party with Zone 2 Chairperson Lion Ong Hong Sing making his official visit to the Club. Our Club's very own Past Council Chairman Allan Cheah presented a talk on "Who are the Lions" whilst specially invited speaker Ms. Marinah Ng presented a very interesting talk on "Numerology - Numbers can bring you success" It was a very interesting afternoon and everyone (all 35 of us) stayed right to the end of the function. We are looking forward to the next social gathering...to be held soon!!

Wash for Charity, Smile for Harmony

Lions together with Omega Leos from the Leo Club of George Town Mutiara, launched the Charity Fund raising event at the LA Car Wash, Jalan Dato Kramat, Penang. The fund raising event is in aid of the National Kidney Foundation (NKF). Present at the launching was District Governor Choong Kwei Loi, Past Council Chairman Allan Cheah, Region 1 Chairperson Lion Lee Boon Hoe and cabinet officers.

Region 1 Joint Installation - 12 August 2009

The Region One Joint Installation of Presidents and Boards of Directors for fiscal year 2009-2010 saw twelve participating clubs being installed by District Governor Choong Kwei Loi at the Traders Hotel on 12 August 2009. Guest of Honour was TYT Yang Di-Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang, Tun Dato' Seri Utama (Dr) Haji Abdul Rahman B. Haji Abbas and his consort YABhg Toh Puan Dato' Seri Utama Hajah Majimor Bt Sharif. Also present to grace the function were LCI International Director Hajjah Ellis Suriyati, MD 308 Council Chairperson Simon Koh, PCC Allan Cheah, PCC Jeffrey Quah, PDG Dato' Khoo Kay Huat and other Lions dignitaries. It was a grand occasion befitting the installation of twelve Clubs Presidents.
Our Club was given the distinct honour to lead the joint installation as the Organising Chair of the organising committee.

District Governor's Inauguration

District Governor Choong Kwei Loi held his inauguration banquet in Kampar on 01 August 2009. The Club was represented by President Alan Cheah, Lion Martin Chong, 2nd Vice President RCC Tina Tan, Lion Gertrude Soong and DC Teng Eng Teik at this function.

Visit to Beautiful Gates Foundation for the Disabled

Members of the Club joined the Leos from the Leo Club of Penang City to visit the Beautiful Gates Foundation for the Disabled in Kampar. 2nd Vice President RCC Tina Tan, Lion Gertrude Soong and President Alan Cheah joined other Lions from Region One Clubs to pay a visit to the home and made some cash contributions to the home.
