The 48th Multiple District Convention concluded successfully in Singapore yesterday when MD Council Chairperson Simon Koh adjourned the meeting at around 12.15 p.m. at the Sun Tec Convention Centre.The 12th District 308 B2 Convention held concurrently with the MD Convention was also a fruitful one for the delegates. The delegates unanimously voted in favour of and passed the resolution for bifurcation and redistricting but unfortunately, our counterparts in District 308 B1 failed to pass their motion as they failed to achieve a 2/3 majority.
Members of the Club who attended the convention were President Alan Cheah, Past Council Chairperson Allan Cheah, Past District Governor Dato' Khoo Kay Huat, Immediate Past President Emery Cheah, President-Elect Tina Tan and Secretary-Elect Mark Labrooy. Past President R. Ganeson dropped by to pay a visit to the club members attending the convention. The members were treated to great hospitality on the part of our sister club, the Lions Club of Fort Canning. The Singapore Lions took every opportunity available to look after the Mutiara lions during their short stay in Singapore.
The PEARL SHINES... the Club and her members were conferred the following awards at the District's fellowship night held on 30 April 2010 by District Governor Choong Kwei Loi:
Top Club Award; Top President Award; Top Secretary Award; Top Treasurer Award; Top District Chairperson Award (President Alan Cheah); Top District Chairperson Award (PP Teng Eng Teik), Top Region Committee Chairperson Award (Lion Tina Tan); Top Bulletin Award, Top Project Award; District Governor's Appreciation Award (PP Teng Eng Teik) and District Governor's Special Award (Lion Gertrude Soong).
Immediate Past President Emery Cheah was conferred the International President's Excellent President Award for FY 2008-2009.
