The Leos of George Town Mutiara embarked on yet another meaningful project this morning when they undertook to spruce up and maintain a major pedestrian overhead bridge in Penang. The pedestrian overhead bridge in the heart of the city spans three major roads - Penang Road, Burmah Road and Lim Chwee Leong Road - and is the largest pedestrian overhead bridge in Penang.
The Leos together with their fellow leos from Clubs as far away as Kuching and Ipoh washed the walls of the bridge and polished the stainless steel posts and railings. Together with the Guest of Honour, the Hon'ble Tuan Ng Wei Aik (State Assemblyman for Komtar), 2nd Vice District Governor Shawn Lee, GT Mutiara Lion President /District Chairperson (Bulletin/E-Bulletin) Alan Cheah, Region 1 Chairperson Lee Boon Hoe, District Chairperson (Leos) Alan Thoo, District Chairperson (Campus Clubs) Ong Lai Peng and District Chairperson (Sp. Projects) May Chin, they not only cleaned up the pedestrian bridge but also planted 16 plants at the traffic island on the base of the bridge. This is a long term project as the Leos will return in two months time to re-paint the bridge and carry out other maintenance works like changing out the damaged and non-functioning light fittings etc of the covered pedestrian bridge.
Other GT Mutiara Lions present at this project were Sec-Elect Mark Labrooy and 3VP-Elect Gertrude Soong.
Well done LEOS! ROAR!
